Oh to Lead Hank Hill’s Life

I would like to live a life that is this straight forward and simple. This picture kind of already reminds me of my friends and I. Unfortunately, that either makes me Bill or Boomhauer. Here are some amazing Hank quotes. (thanks Craig!)

“Dang it Bobby, your mom and I had our wedding pictures taken in front of that fence!”

Bobby: “You’d never make it in LA.” Hank: “Dang it, I hope I never make it to LA!”

“Ginseng tea?? I’m not gonna get hopped up on dope!”

(…as he gets handed a cigar.)
“Don’t mind if I — oh, you probably didn’t realize this, but this is Cuban. I’ll just go ahead and destroy it for you.”

“Why would anyone ever smoke weed when they could just mow a lawn?”

(referring to Ronald Reagan)
“I miss voting for that man.”

“A poodle? Why don’t you just get me a cat and a sex change operation?”

(Answering Bobby’s questions about PMS)
“Bobby, some things are like a tire fire, trying to put it out only makes it worse. You just gotta grab a beer and let it burn.”

“Bobby, from now on when I ask you how your day was, what I mean is ‘how was shop’?”

“You can’t just pick and choose which laws to follow. Sure I’d like to tape a baseball game without the express written consent of major league baseball, but that’s just not the way it works.”

The Ebb and Flow of Football and Food

Yep, that is the descriptive quote from my birthday weekend, actually from most of my fall weekends. I won’t attempt to be dramative and try to convince you of how cathartic it to watch football all weekend – I am a guy, I like sitting in my chair and watching football. Period.

Thanks to all who sent me birthday wishes! Thanks to my AWESOME folks for hosting a GREAT birthday party! It was a blast! Although I do not like playing games with Shelley anymore.

Huskers dominated a weak team. Hey, a win is a win and we looked good. It was nice to see a defense shutting down cutback lanes and making tackles. And it is great to see a high-effiency, high-scoring offense.

Sorry I haven’t been writing more. I have been fairly caught up in Catalystlife. But I will work harder this week!

Maybe it was two days in a row. But whatever the case. We are off Taco Bell for life.

Best Guys = Best Guys’ Night Ever

What a freaking awesome night! We had a great time hosting re:Zound, with Catalyst Band opening. They rocked! It is such a unique thing that we have going on EVERY week at Catalyst, it blows my mind!

Then we hosted a guys’ night at my place. Judifree[dotcom] was hosting a girls’ night. Her’s was probably a touch different than ours’. However, we partied pretty hard. It had all the makings of a great guys’ night: N64, a no pants rule, a trip to the ER, spilled soda, chips, lots of pizza with lots of jalepenos, Soul Caliber on GameCube, more pizza, plenty of Red Bull, a poker tourney (which I won thank you very much!) JMick was on a roll, Marvin Gaye ‘Let’s Get It On’ on the record player, I mean come on, what else do you want!

I stumbled to my bed exhausted at about 4:15, after watching Mark, Zach and Bryan dominate some Soul Caliber. When I came back down this morning about 9, Zach and Mark had not moved. At all. Bryan had fallen asleep. What a great night! We will for certain be having another one very very soon!

Catalyst has a fantastic group of up and coming young men who fully intend to change the world. I am priviledged to be associated with them, even leading them! Skinney, ZachAttack, Tyler, Jovanana, NateDogg, Justynia, Marlinia, Barge, JMick, Evan, Los, and the always revolutionary Mark Thomas.

“These who have turned the world upside down have come here also.”

Heat Wave in the Mile High City

Is not that bad. Heat here is nothing like heat in Nebraska. Absolutely nothing like it. But, hey, let’s be honest 100 degrees is hot no matter where you are at. It has been hot. Yesterday I spent it at Water World with my most favorite group of people ever, Remnant! It was a blast! Water slides a mile high! THUNDER BAY! Come on! Plus the sheer awesomeness of spending a day with Nate. That is amazing.

Today, Mark and I helped move his in-laws. They are truly amazing. I didn’t feel like I did anything for them at all. I felt like they poured into me somehow. Absolutely awesome. I am going to start having Kathy (spelling Judi?) pray for life. I think God listens to her.

It has been a great day. Just an update post. Talk to you soon.

What a great stinking afternoon! I spent it locked in a conference room plotting to take over the world . . . Well, revolutionize the youth culture of Denver! It was awesome. I am a part of the best youth team in the entire world! What an afternoon! We planned out basically the next year of our youth ministry! Here are some pics.

The breakfast, lunch and dinner of champions.

Hey, I tried to make this one kind of artsy, did it work?
